Promoter and Management
MCLS is promoted by legal training services provider, Hitchings Legal Services, S.L.P., under the direction of its Director, Paul Hitchings. Paul is a Spanish and English qualified lawyer specialising in the private enforcement of competition law, Doctor of Law from the Complutense University of Madrid (honourable mention and extraordinary prize) and author of the monograph ‘The Impact of EU Law on Actions for Damages for Breach of Competition Law ’ published in Spanish by Tirant (2024).
Steering Committee
MCLS is supported by prominent members of the European judiciary, and representatives of the legal profession and of academia, who together make up the Steering Committee. This Committee ensures the quality of the programme and participants. All its members actively contribute to the debate.
Notable members since the beginning include Ignacio Sancho Gargallo (Magistrate of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court and its current President) and Sir Peter Roth (Judge of the High Court of England and Wales and former President of the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London). MCLS is particularly grateful for the ongoing support and encouragement received from both.
MCLS also has the support of Spanish magistrates specialising in commercial matters, including competition law, who are members of the committee and assist in coordination with the Spanish judiciary. and would like to express its gratitude in particular to Purificación Martorell Zulueta (Judge of the Provincial Court of Valencia), Mª Arantzazu Ortiz González (Judge of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands) and Gustavo Andrés Martin, Judge of Commercial Court No. 1 of Alicante.
